Welcome to USM Formula Student!

Every year, University of Strathclyde Motorsport design, build, market and race a single-seat bike-engined racing car as part of the global Formula Student initiative, a series of international competitions focussed on developing engineering talent in a practical, competitive high-octane environment.

The USM team is made up of students from across the University's Engineering and Business faculties who devote their time and energy to ensuring USM continue to compete at a high level both on the racetrack and off.

We would like to take the time to thank all of our partners and sponsors for their continued support - without them there would be no USM, and we are extremely grateful for the opportunity they have given us.

CAD Suite

  • USM have taken up residence in a cosy corner of James Weir with a brand new CAD suite financed by a substantial grant from the University of Strathclyde Alumni Fund. We're immensely grateful for their generosity and support - the new suite creates a group workspace which will be hugely valuable to the team, allowing effective collaboration between design team members and providing a hub for the team's design activities.

Thanks are also due to Autodesk and 3Dconnexion, who have provided professional CAD software and 3D space mice to make life easier as we build up a complete computer model of our new car.
